You might try posting this in the non pedal steel section where dobros are discussed.
Carter D10 8p/7k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup, Regal RD40 Dobro (D tuning), Recording King Professional Dobro (G tuning), NV400, NV112, Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open G slide and regular G tuning guitar) .

Playing for 56 years and still counting.

I have one of these https://charliescapo.com/

I like that I can put it on and take it off with one hand.

I sent him the measurements and he made the capo to match.

I agree with Mr. Carlson. Charlie's Slide Pro capos are the best I've found.

The problem with the Charlies (and similar) is the split shank. The split is where the 4th string would normally be on a 7 string guitar. 3 Strings would normally rest on each section. You'd have to verify you can actually get around that obstacle.

I suspect the older Leno capo would work since it's inserted from the side of the neck and not between 2 strings in the center of the neck. Also, the Shubb may work if your neck shape would accommodate it.

For an 8-string, the split occurs between strings 4 and 5, which means each half of the capo covers 4 strings. I would think with a 7-string, it would be fine: half covers 3 strings, the other half covers 4 strings. IMHO.

My charlie will not fit on my 8 string, with an 8 string wide neck.

I suggest that the OP "try before buy".

I bought the 8-string model, wider than the one for 6 strings, and it fit just fine on my 8-string Adams resonator.

I agree 100% with "try before you buy."

I have an Adams dobro8 and an Adams tricone8, both nice and wide. I gave Charlie the measurements for both to make sure and it works like a dream, but
I don't use it much now. Nice to have in the kit though.

thanks for responses
The dobro is a Ted Smith fiberglass originally8 string but now set up for 7 strings.
The neck is thicker from top to bottom than any other dobro I've seen

Actually I have the Schuss capo and it doesn't work because the neck is too thick

Charlie’s will just work on my Beard 7, and the Leno works perfectly.

I could never get the Shubb to work on anything. I wanted to Schuss it down a ski slope
