This Zking steel has a complete Emmons all pull changer , Half inch maple top an aprons , an sounds like a Emmons . Guess the changer has a lot too do with Emmons sound. A lot of keyless tuners seem to retain the roller nut and pull the string longitudinally with a threaded slider.
As I had no idea how to go about making a roller nut, I built what is really a miniature pull release changer which lives permanently in release mode with the fingers resting on the tuning screws. They have a mechanical advantage of about 5:1 so are very positive and light to tune. Here it is assembled
and here it is nickel plated and fitted on the guitar
I don't have to lift the bar to use the open strings - I can just slide right over the end.
